A Dance to Remember

The boy with the blue eyes,
With the delicate face
My hands entangled behind his neck
His arms around my waist
We dance in random steps, small arches to and fro
One, two, three, four
Following the rhythm of our own
Hearts that follow no beat at all.

Our night follows no schedule
Only follows our steps
Hands clasped, heads bent
And smiles direct
We walk in sync
To the music of the stars
And dream out loud whilst making wishes
Fluffy dandelion seeds sparse.

His face I touch ever so lightly
And our blue eyes connect
He held me oh, so close
I would have almost called it perfect
Except for the lack of a kiss
The night was nearly over
And then I realized this:
Our dance, this story, has only just begun.

Based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV.

Love is patient
Love is kind
Love is charitable
It helps the blind.
Love does not boast
Love shows every sign
Love does not coast
On irrelevant lies.
Love rejoices in the truth
Love heard your cries
Love bears all things
And takes care of every man, woman, and child.
Love is not rude
Love you could never buy
Love does not insist on it’s own way
It rarely ever chides.
Love is not irritable
Love you are meant to find
Love does not envy
It keeps quite aligned.
Love is not arrogant
Love is never pined
Love believes
It is you it is always behind.
Love is not crude
Love is God’s design
Love is never resentful
It should never be declined.
Love is innocent
Love is never confined
Love hopes all things
It lasts further than mankind.
And lastly,
Before you grow bored or get behind
Love never ends
This God promises, resign.
